Console Firmware

Important Note! Before you upgrade the firmware, check the About Page* and make certain you are running Firmware Version 2.x.x. Failure to do so may cause your console to stop working.

*To determine your firmware version, select Factory | About | Display from the console.

Important Note! You may lose all of your stored data in memory and Calibration Settings if you upgrade. Please back up your data prior to upgrading the firmware (Section 6.6 #6 of the WS-1200 User Manual).

Updating Firmware Instructions:

1. Download the latest zip file (below) to your your computer. Make a note of where you saved this file.
2. Extract the zip file.
3. Copy the extracted folder Update EasyWeather to your MicroSD Card (the SD card must be empty).
4. Power down your display console by removing AC power.
5. Insert the SD Card into the display console.
6. Power up the display console.
7. The console will verify the firmware was updated.

4. Insert the MicroSD Card into the SD card slot in the display console.
5. Remove power from the display console by disconnecting the AC adapter.
6. Reconnect the AC adapter and confirm the firmware update.
Note: You only need to download the latest version. Multiple versions are shown to track changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ 1. I can not connect to WeatherUnderground.com.
  1. Your user name and/or password is entered incorrectly. The password is case sensitive, and the most common Station ID issue is substituting an O for a 0 (or visa versa). Example, KAZPHOEN11, not KAZPH0EN11.

If you are running McAfee Security Software, locate the weather station from the Mac address (where the first three bytes of the weather station are 00:e6:7d). FAQ 2. Sensor array does not communicate with the ObserverIP and Display Console.

The sensor array may have initiated properly and the data is registered by the console as invalid, and the sensor must be reset. The reset button is next to the LED, near the mounting point on the sensor array.

  1. With an open ended paperclip, press the reset button for 3 seconds to completely discharge the voltage.
  2. Take out the batteries and wait one minute, while covering the solar panel to drain the voltage.
  3. Put batteries back in and resync with console by powering down and up the console with the sensor array about 10 feet away.

Bring the sensor array inside the house (you can disconnect it from the rest of the sensors). The LED next to the battery compartment will flash every 16 seconds. If the LED is not flashing every 16 seconds…
Replace the batteries in the outside sensor array. Non-rechargeable batteries are OK for testing purposes.
If the batteries were recently replaced, check the polarity. If the sensor is flashing every 48 seconds, proceed to the next step.

There may be a temporary loss of communication due to reception loss related to interference or other location factors,
or the batteries may have been changed in the sensor array and the console has not been reset. The solution may be as simple as powering down and up the console.
Replace the batteries in the outside sensor array. Non-rechargeable batteries are OK for testing purposes.
With the sensor array and console 10 feet away from each other, remove AC power from the display console and wait 10 seconds. Re-connect power.
